Darwell Umbruskor has long been known around town as an eccentric but ultimately harmless old sage. From what you've heard, he keeps odd hours, rarely speaks a word to anyone, and lets no one enter his tower save for a few servants. Though quiet and mysterious, Darwell has done nothing to around undue suspicion. Sir Jeffers, a crusading warrior who just made your acquaintance, claims otherwise. According to evidence he recently came across, Darwell Umbruskor is both a necromancer and a dedicated priest of an evil power. Published by Fantasy Flight Games

After a few scrapes with adventure even novice heroes will need a break and such is the case with this challenge. The young group of PCs will find themselves entering a backwater burg in the hopes of a little R&R (rest and relaxation) but as they come close to town a dead body in the road and the smell of burning foreshadows troubling times ahead. On the southern shores of the Moonsea, the residents of Mulmaster have eked out a living where others would likely have given up long ago—in a bleak city where corruption is rampant and the Church of Bane holds sway. In these five short, introductory adventures, you will travel the breadth of the City of Danger, meet its people, see its sights, and witness firsthand how the city truly has earned its ominous moniker. An introductory adventure for 1st-2nd level characters. City of Danger is broken into five mini-adventures, each designed for one to two hours of play. Therefore if you are attempting to run all five missions in one session you need a minimum of five hours to do so (and probably more). If running this adventure as part of an event that cycles players through quickly, the DM should be familiar with the mini-adventures that he or she is going to run. At public events, time is often the most important factor. Get the players into the mini adventure as quickly as possible, keep an eye on the clock, and take whatever shortcuts are necessary to stay on schedule. If time is not an issue, let the characters spend more time interacting with the non player characters within the mini-adventures. It is not required that the mission be played in order.

This adventure is formatted to both 1E & 5E gaming rules.

The set-up is interesting in a way – the PCs are plain folks of the Vale, everyday people, and the module begins promising, with the Thor-ordained sporty trek around the vale that inevitably results in trouble. The module, obviously, tries to chronicle the step from everyday-Joe/Jane to hero and the tidbits on culture provided are intriguing. But this, as much as I’m loathe to say it, is one of the worst modules FGG has ever released. If I didn’t know any better, I wouldn’t expect Mr. Ward’s pen at work here. Let me elaborate: The premise, is unique and hasn’t been done much recently, but it suffers from this being an adventure – to properly invest the players in the setting a closer gazetteer, nomenclature, suggested roles and origins for casting talent – all of that should have been covered. They’re not. Worse, everything here is a) clichéd and b) a non-threat in the great whole of things.
Set in the hamlet of Stillroot, players arrive seeking rest and find rot. The townsfolk are kind. The inn is warm. And the bodies are already being used. Easy to drop into any ongoing game, just tell your players they’ve finally found a place to rest.
In their previous adventure they discovered a strange magic item that no one in Fort Myers can identify. After receiving the suggestion that a trip to the capital may be in order, a different tip points out that there is Steinhäuser. This location is known as a vast repository of knowledge. As the PCs opt to leave the “friendly” confines of the Duchy of Starryshade due to some unfortunate misunderstanding, they head north. The Noteflame Coast is filled with desolate reaches, humanoids of all types, and the home base of the Corsair Council. The major community in this county is Kale Bay but getting there won’t be easy. This offering is more of a sandbox style with several optional adventures.
A treasure map leads to deadly peril amid the remains of a lost civilization. NOTE: The Tales of Freeport that contains this adventure is NOT one of the versions currently available in the Green Ronin store. Those contain short stories. This is an older item that appears to no longer be available from Green Ronin. It is possible that the adventures within it have been included in other products since then. But I have linked to the original product on DriveThru RPG.
