"The Devil Box" is a D&D adventure suitable for four 2nd-level PCs, although it can be modified for parties of 1st or 4th-5th levels as noted int the "Scaling the Adventure" sidebar. Characters completing the adventure are likely to advance to 3rd level. Much of the action takes place in a small town during a festival; this town can easily be dropped into an existing campaign. Since "The Devil Box" expects the PCs to deal with kobolds as temporary allies, it throws in some ethical dilemmas for good-aligned characters. Paladins and good-aligned clerics my have difficulties with such an alliance, but kobolds are definitely the lesser of the two evils involved in this adventure. If the party spurns the assistance of potential kobold allies, you may wish to modify the adventure to make it a bit easier on the player characters, as encounters have been written with the assumption that the heroes have a little help. Nearly 100 years ago, Lord Eriador wrested the lands from the hands of evil and began a reign of unsurpassed courage, wisdom, and might that lasted over three centuries. It is now the reign of the third overseer. For years now, an evil mage has been plaguing the land by sending forth hordes of evil humanoid minions to oppress the people. The overseer has been forced to pay tribute to the mage to protect his people. Life has become nearly unbearable for his subjects. It has been over five years since the mage desecrated the holy mountain by placing foul creatures in its depths to guard against the possibility of the people seeking help from their nearly forgotten champion. A fortnight ago, your party was gathered in a secret council chamber to meet with the overseer himself. You felt a spark of hope for the people of this land as the overseer told the legendary tale of Eriador. A Titan’s Dream is a D&D 5e adventure that invites your party to a conflict between three mountain tribes that are competing for a dreaming Titan’s power. Through the adventure, a party of four or five level 3 characters gain two levels. It takes 4 to 6 four-hour sessions to finish the adventure. The adventure is structured into three acts: 1. The party meets the Visig tribe and learns their customs. They join a ritual run that takes them across the region and discover a necrotic affliction. The act culminates with a battle against a warlock of the Undying tribe and undead beasts. 2. The party seeks out a sage to learn about the trials of strength. They explore the harsh mountains, face fabled beasts, and the Fastus and Undying tribes as they complete the three trials. 3. With the trials complete, the party enters a Titan’s resting place and their dreams. They explore memories from a bygone world and return for a final confrontation between the three tribes.
